BOARDWALK COMPONENTS AND FEATURES
Learn more about the components and features of our boardwalk system

Boardwalk Pans
Our proprietary boardwalk pans form the stable, ground-level foundation of our innovative modular boardwalk system. Constructed from durable 1/8" thick galvanized steel, these pans are designed for minimal site disturbance, providing robust support for posts even in soft soils or sensitive wetland environments – choose standard pans for typical conditions or specialized Swamp Pans for extra wet areas. Their design ensures long-lasting stability with reduced environmental impact.

Boardwalk Brackets
Our proprietary galvanized steel boardwalk brackets are the versatile connectors that securely link the foundation pans and posts to the boardwalk's structural panels. Sliding over the posts, they provide adjustable support for the walking surface and come in various configurations – including Straight, adjustable Universal Turn, and Inside Corner options – allowing for easy design flexibility to follow paths, create curves, build corners, or add features like bump-outs.

Boardwalk Panels
Boardwalk panels create the main structural sections and walking surface framework within our modular system. Prefabricated for consistent quality and to accelerate on-site assembly, these panels typically feature durable, treated lumber framing secured with galvanized joist hangers and hardware. Engineered in standard lengths (often 8 feet) and designed to meet specific load ratings – from standard pedestrian use up to heavy-duty ATV/UTV requirements – these panels connect securely to the boardwalk brackets, forming a strong and reliable pathway.
Boardwalk Features
The components of our modular system allows for a variety of different configurations and feature that can be added to your boardwalk

Straight Run
A Straight Run forms the primary linear pathway of the boardwalk, extending passage directly forward. It's constructed using standard 8-foot boardwalk panels connected end-to-end, supported by the regular sequence of pan, post, and bracket assemblies, utilizing either Straight or Universal Turn brackets aligned straight ahead.

Curved Boardwalk
Curves allow the boardwalk to flow smoothly around obstacles or follow natural contours with gentle bends. This is achieved using the versatile Universal Turn brackets, which permit slight angling between consecutive panels (up to 6" offset per bracket mentioned) to create sweeping arcs without requiring sharp corner pieces.

Turn Panel
A Turn creates a more defined, sharper change in direction (up to 45 degrees) compared to a gentle curve, useful for navigating tighter layouts. Creating a turn typically requires an additional footing assembly (pan, post, Universal Turn bracket) and involves an angled transition panel, often framed on-site to achieve the specific corner angle needed.

Bump Outs
A Bump Out is essentially a small platform built alongside the main boardwalk path, extending usable space outward. Ideal for adding features like benches, informational signs, fishing spots, or kayak/canoe launches, bump outs integrate seamlessly using standard components and often utilize Inside Corner brackets where they rejoin the main boardwalk structure.

Platforms
A Platform is a wider, stationary area built using the same modular system components (pans, posts, brackets, panels) but configured to create an expanded surface rather than a linear path. Often located at the end of a boardwalk or integrated along its length, platforms serve as excellent viewing areas, rest stops, or transition zones.

Curb Rail
Curb Railing offers essential edge guidance and a low-profile safety barrier along the boardwalk perimeter. As our most common railing type, it's frequently used on boardwalks less than 30" off the ground and typically constructed from durable treated lumber, providing clear delineation of the walkway while maintaining an open feel.

Pedestrian Rail
We provide various Pedestrian Railing styles designed for maximum safety and accessibility, often required for boardwalks elevated more than two feet, and built to meet ADA standards. Critically, our railing posts attach directly to the structural boardwalk panels. This integrated design ensures that if boardwalk sections need future re-leveling due to ground settlement or frost heave, the railing moves right along with the panel, maintaining correct height and continuous safety integrity.
